Concerned about dubai

• My family and I are thinking of moving to Dubai with my husbands work as the company he works for has bought a company out there. Initially, I was excited and ready to give it a go, but having read all the messages on this forum, it seems there are more negative comments than there are positive and I am now not sure whether Dubai would be the place for us. We have 3 blonde, blue eyed kids, would they be picked on because of the colour of their skin?
  I was also told that a wife has to get permission from her husband before she can do anything, is that true? I honestly do'nt think I could live like that. I have always made my own decisions, gone out when I want and say what I think. If we moved to Dubai, it sounds like I would have to keep my mouth permanently shut and walk 3 paces behind my husband. Is Dubai really not as westernised as I seem to think?
