Losing the B Permit

I am an EU citizen with a B Permit. I have a long term job contract however I was refused a C permit on the grounds that I have a criminal record even thought I have been here more than 5 years. Can I get another B permit again or is it possible I will also be refused another B permit due to the same reason?
