Finding property

How to start your property search in Poland

Finding property

Finding a property in Poland is not very difficult. Since the global economic crisis, there is plenty of real-estate on the market. Property prices are more reasonable than they were a few years ago.

Newspapers

Newspapers are still the most popular way of advertising a property for sale, and the main daily broadsheets offer classified property listings. Some of the largest Polish newspapers include weekly property supplements. For example, the Gazeta Wyborcza puts out its supplements on Wednesdays, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna on Tuesdays, and Rzeczpospolita on Mondays. Depending on where you buy your newspaper, you can find some classifieds from the region in daily local supplements.

Although there are many properties, they sell quickly. You should buy a newspaper early in the morning, and when you find an interesting offer, call immediately. Although properties do not sell in one day, you do not want to lose the property of a lifetime because you didn't contact the seller soon enough.

Using the internet

Online property search engines allow you to sort the results according to your own specifications such as type, area, price, number of rooms and size. There are portals with classifieds where anyone can post an ad (most portals offer this service for free). However, you should be careful when looking at properties, because there may be some scammers. Be sure to see a property in person before you make any offers.

A very popular way of finding a home is checking the web pages of developers. These pages list new properties. Sometimes developers offer big discounts, and it is a direct way of finding a seller. Real estate agencies also have websites where you can find properties that suit your needs.

Real estate agencies

Since the property boom in 2007, the real estate market has grown considerably, but only 20% of Polish people decide to hire a specialist to find real estate. However, as an expat you might want to have a real estate agent to help you navigate through all the choices and legal work. Be cautious when choosing an estate agent as there are quite a few dubious providers on the market. For more information, read our article on Polish estate agents.
