Residence Permit for other reasons

Hello, I am a US citizen and my fiancee is German. She is pregnant and due in two months and we are here to have the child in Germany. Does anyone know if I will be able to qualify for a residence permit to enable me to stay for more than three months (i just arrived on 26-April). I am not planning on applying through student or employment status, purely on the fact that I am the father of a child being born here and need to be able to stay until at least September.
Any assistance is gratefully apreciated.
